Course of Fire
The Casual Firearms Standard can be shot using three Courses of Fire. Each uses the same 11-round target sequence and Hit Factor scoring, with different distances and start positions.
Course 1 — Low Ready
Distance: 3 yards
Start Position: Low Ready
The most accessible version of the Standard. No holster is required.
Course 2 — Concealed Holster
Distance: 7 yards
Start Position: Draw from a concealed holster
Course 3 — OWB Holster
Distance: 7 yards
Start Position: Draw from an Outside-the-Waistband (OWB) holster
Optional Slide-Lock Reload
Any Course may be shot with a slide-lock reload for an additional challenge.
Load the first magazine with 6 rounds. After completing Target #2, the handgun will run empty and lock open. Perform a slide-lock reload before engaging Target #3 and completing the remaining 5 rounds.
On the start signal, engage the numbered target areas in the order indicated on the target, firing the prescribed number of rounds. Complete all 11 rounds as quickly as possible while maintaining accuracy.
When recording your result, include both the Course and whether the optional reload was performed.
Scoring
The Casual Firearms Standard is scored using Hit Factor (HF), rewarding the combination of speed and accuracy.
Each hit within the designated target area is worth 5 points, with a maximum of 55 points available.
Miss: -2 points
Your Hit Factor is calculated by dividing your final point total by your elapsed time:
Hit Factor = Points ÷ Time
Example:
50 points ÷ 7.25 seconds = 6.90 HF
A higher Hit Factor represents better overall performance.
When recording your score, always include the Course you shot and whether you completed the optional slide-lock reload.
Results
Record your performance each time you shoot the Casual Firearms Standard. Your Course and use of the optional slide-lock reload are part of your result and should always be recorded with your Hit Factor.

Optional Reload: Yes / No

Calculate Your Hit Factor
